Our Story

Re-imagining Spokane’s Classic Urban Neighborhood Design

The “Urban by Nature” concept on which we built Kendall Yards draws inspiration from Spokane’s classic neighborhoods. It extends the metro area’s rich history of parks, tree-lined streets, parkways and welcoming front porches right into the heart of our city.

SITE HISTORY

Kendall Yards, our community’s name, reflects the rail history of the site and celebrates Charles Kendall — the first to bridge the North and South banks of the Spokane River. It is now a thriving urban neighborhood on the North bank of the Spokane River across from Downtown Spokane.

SUSTAINABLE & WALKABLE DESIGN

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do in Kendall Yards. Every facet of the community has been designed to make life better: a vibrant community, a strong economy and a healthy environment. Everything you need is just a short walk or bike ride away. It’s a community that’s human-scaled, not car-scaled. Not a new idea, but a really good one.

A FOCUS ON ART

Public art celebrates our history and culture. Sculptors, painters, musicians, chefs and craftspeople: all these inspiring community members contribute to the growing showcase of local flavor. Greats like Harold Balazs, Bill and Karma Simmons and David Blaine are joined by inspiring young creatives to craft an unparalleled cultural experience.
