When
visionary developer Marshall Chesrown secured this 77-acre site
(formerly known as the Summit property) in November of last year,
he knew he had something special. His vision for Kendall Yards
included the creation of an energetic, diverse and distinctive
urban neighborhood that hundreds of Spokanites would be proud to
call home.
Having grown up in the Spokane Valley, Marshall
Chesrown has always considered this area his home. After graduating
from high school in 1976, Marshall left home as a young man eager
and ready to learn what else was going on in the world. Landing
first in California, he began his career with a summer job at
a Buick dealership. He worked hard and, by the age of 22, was
a minority owner in a Chrysler dealership. After working over
20 years in California, Oklahoma and Colorado, Marshall made
the decision in 1999 to move back to the Inland Northwest permanently.
Soon after returning home, Marshall founded Black Rock Development
and he launched the construction of the area’s first private
golf community.

During his time away from home, Marshall’s
travels allowed him to spend time in many progressive urban areas
where he learned a great deal about what other cities have to
offer and why they attract new residents year after year. Now
he has the chance to give back to the community through th e
creation of Kendall Yards. Connected directly to downtown with
natural amenities unequaled by any city in the country, this
new development offers an exciting opportunity to create an entirely
new urban district for the city of Spokane.
